Republic Act 11463, otherwise known as the Malasakit Center Act, aims to provide a “one-stop shop” access to financial assistance for medical services for those who are in need at all Department of Health (DOH) managed hospitals.
With the establishment of Malasakit Centers, transactions with government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), PhilHealth, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), among others, has been made more convenient.
The DICT, through its Free Wi-Fi for All Program, shall allow these services to become even more accessible by providing free Wi-Fi at Malasakit Centers.
One of these, the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) Malasakit Center, was launched jointly with Free Wi-Fi for All services at the same Center last 14 January 2020.
This event, held at the largest medical facility in the Cagayan Valley region, was graced by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, CVMC Chief Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas and Malasakit Center Lead, Secretary Michael Dino, and DICT Luzon Cluster 1 Director Leo Ugto, alongside local officials headed by Provincial Governor Manuel Mamba, Vice Governor Melvin Vargas, Jr., Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano and Vice Mayor Bienvenido Guzman II.
Through Free Wi-Fi for All and the more efficient access to information and processing of documents the Program offers, patients need not worry about their finances but instead focus on getting better.
