Throughout all 17 regions in the Philippines, 23 Free Wi-Fi for All sites were simultaneously launched to celebrate Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II’s 100th day in office as Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
These events are in line with the Department’s vision of a digitally-empowered Philippines. The 23 Free Wi-Fi for All sites launched as listed below are part of the 3,000 total connected public places in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as of October 02, 2019.

In his speech at the Army General Hospital at Fort Bonifacio, where Sec. Honasan led the National Capital Region launching together with Major General Jesus B. Sarsagat, Acting Vice Commander of the Philippine Army, he said,
“Tuwing may kalamidad, may kaguluhan, may sakuna, ang tinatanong natin palagi ay kung meron bang kuryente. That’s the wrong question. The right question should be, ‘Meron bang contact?’ Para malaman natin kung sino iyong walang kuryente, kung sino iyong nahirapan talaga, kung sino iyong nawash-out iyong tulay. So the most important thing is contact, connectivity.”

Free Wi-Fi for All continues to accelerate the Philippine government’s efforts in enhancing Internet accessibility for Filipinos so that economic, social, and educational opportunities will thrive, and, in turn, bring the Philippines closer to the forefront of an ICT-enabled world.
