It was a busy week for the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) as Undersecretary Jose Arturo De Castro met with several government officials—the empowering of citizens through ICT services provided by the DICT on their agenda.
On 29 January 2020, Cavite Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla expressed interest in establishing a partnership with the Department for a more digitally-enabled Cavite. Mayor George Ricardo R. Gacula II shared similar sentiments for Taytay, Rizal on another meeting held last 31 January 2020.
Part of the many programs that are being eyed for rollout in the said areas is Free Wi-Fi for All, which will provide free Internet access in public places at all localities in the country, including Cavite and Taytay, Rizal. To date, 3,283 Free Wi-Fi sites have been established nationwide, allowing Filipinos access to communication and vital information online.
