As the month of February moves forward, so does the rollout of the DICT’s Free Wi-Fi for All Program across the country – including at the Province of Marinduque.
To celebrate the on-going establishment of free Wi-Fi sites across the said province, a series of launches were held between 4 and 5 February 2020.
On 4 February 2020, a joint launch for Free Wi-Fi for All and Tech4Ed was conducted at the Marinduque State College (MSC). The launch was attended by various MSC officials and included an Internet Media and Information Literacy (IMIL) training session for students.
The following day was equally busy for the DICT Regional Operations Office – Luzon Cluster 3 team as more engagements with local Program partners pushed through.
On 05 February 2020, a Ceremonial Switch-on commenced at the Municipality of Buenavista. The switch on was attended by Buenavista Mayor Nancy Madrigal and Vice Mayor Hannilee Siena along with ROO-LC3 Director Cheryl Ortega
Finally, another joint Free Wi-Fi for All and Tech4Ed launch was held at the Municipality of Gasan. The event was similarly graced by the respective LGU officials headed by Mayor Vicky Lim and Dir. Ortega from the DICT’s end.
Both launches at Buenavista and Gasan were followed up with IMIL trainings to ensure that users are able to access Free Wi-Fi services safely and productively.
A total of fifty-six (56) public places in Marinduque are now Free Wi-Fi for All connected as of this writing.
